Jeju-Sangumburi-Crater

Sangum-buri, which appears as an impressive place in the movie ” Yeongpoong Sonata, ”
is Natural Monument No.263, a crater with a circumference of more than 2 kilometers.

Jang Dong-gun (Tae-hee) and Ko So-young (Young-seo) walk around the mountain. There are 360 parasitic volcanoes in Jeju Island, but all other volcanoes except here in Sangumburi seem to have fallen over the bowl, and only the crater of Sangumburi is located in Jeju Island.

We call these volcanoes as Maar,
which is one of the only volcanoes in Korea, and they are very rare in the world.

Ecosystem of the plant inside the crater..

Especially, because there are many gaps in the bottom of Sangumburi and all the water is absorbed, the ecosystem of the plant is uniquely distributed inside the crater.

The height of the crater makes temperate and warm areas, and the amount of sunlight and daylight hours makes various distributions.

The region of the sea, with a rare variety of Red-wood evergreen oak, such as the silver magnolia, Siebold’s chinquapin, and Long-leaf bay-tree, develope the sun-lit northern cliff.
Also, on the sun-lighted southern cliff, temperate deciduous trees such as dogwood, sangdori, maple, and gomsol are formed, as well as oak trees, which are distributed far from the north.

In addition, there is a highly splendid and perfectly preserved colony of mountain trees, Jeju jorian trees, and Byunsan flowers.  It is also famous for its habitats for wild animals such as birds and reptiles, as well as mammals such as roe deer and badgers.  In spring, clouds form at the bottom of the crater and the shape of the sky is almost mysterious.  In this Sangumburi, tourists visit Chinese squill, gentian, and Wideword Parnassia with the colorful flowers.
